RULES & REGULATIONS

General

  1. Repertoire: Choose either one solo piece or one movement of a Suite/Sonata/Concerto from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or 20th/21st Century period. Voice: one piece from Classical or Musical Theatre repertoire is accepted. Applicants need to apply separately to submit more than one piece/movement.
  2. All performances must be played from memory, except Woodwinds, Brass and Chamber Music.
  3. There is no limit for the length of the competition piece.
  4. The judges’ decisions are final.
  5. Results will be posted on the IGMC website by April 22, 2023.
  6. The winners will receive a Winner’s Certificate in PDF file via email by April 26, 2023.
  7. The winners who choose to perform at Merkin Concert Hall will receive a Winner’s Certificate at the awards ceremony after the concert. (Refer to the Winners' Concert page for further information.)
Live Competition
  1. Individual audition time will be emailed two weeks before the audition date.
  2. Please do not make your own cuts for the auditions. Judges will make the cuts, if necessary.
  3. The duration of the audition is determined by the discretion of the judges.
  4. The performer needs to submit one score (photocopies allowed) to the judges.
  5. The performer needs to bring his/her own accompanist. If a performer needs an accompanist, please contact IGMC.
  6. The comments from the judges will be given after your performance at the competition.
YouTube Competition
  1. The applicants are required to upload a YouTube link in the online application form.
  2. The YouTube link submission (with application) deadline is March 27, 2023.
  3. The YouTube link can be emailed separately by April 7, 2023, with the online application and the application fee received by March 27, 2023.
  4. The comments from the judges will not be provided.
